There are a lot of arguments for and against television.

Television brings the world to our living-rooms. We see important events and famous people, we see other countries and beautiful nature. We become better informed watching science programmes, social and political issues of the day.

Television helps us to relax and enjoy good music or a nice film. It gives us opportunities to see the best actors and performances.

TV is a great force in the world nowadays. But it is also doing a lot of harm. We spend too much time watching TV and forget about friends and hobbies, sport and walks in the open air. People begin to forget the art of conversation, they watch TV instead of visiting friends. Many children no longer read books. Some pupils are so busy with television that they do not do their homework. Some people have made television their main leisure activity.

Television may lead to poor health through rushed meals, lack of sleep, lack of exercise, eyestrain.
